Regional matters

In recent years the regionalisation of sports strategy, policy and funding across the United Kingdom has been one of the defining changes in and around our working environment. The establishment of Regional Cultural Consortia and Sports Boards and the devolution of responsibilities and funding to regional bodies has put increased pressure on UCS to adopt a more regionally based structure to operate in conjunction with, and complementary to our UK remit.

This section of the web page details the composition of the regions, their current issues and where applicable information on their next regional meeting or seminar.

The Association as a whole strongly believes in the importance of a strategic role for FE and HE sport at regional level. It has where possible sought to ensure that the HE-FE sector has a voice on those key regional sporting and wider cultural bodies. If we are not in there influencing things we won't be considered in the processes of strategy, policy-making and therefore the distribution of future resources.

We would urge you to contribute to your regional groupings wherever possible. This section of the web site should tell you who to contact, but if in doubt please contact any of the Executive Committee to find out more about what's happening in your region and how you can get involved.
